Bucket list

I live as if you only die once.

I can think of three vivid days when I thought I would die, of have that infamous kick- the-bucket day. Once in Vietnam, another in Thailand, the third, going inside an abandoned mine in Peru.

There were countless defying death days in China, where I’d risk my life just by crossing the street, almost being taken out by a bus or a mei tuan delivery guy or a donkey pulling a cart, then only to get home and risk my life again, by drinking tap water.

Then there’s times I wanted to die. Like when analyzing shards of conversations I had recently. These are actual things I talked about this week:

But like a cat with nine lives, my bucket hasn’t been kicked yet. So I’ll keep on trying, this June, hiking the Huayhuash. Six days and five nights gazing at some of God’s best handiwork, reflecting on a line from Jack London’s WHITE FANG, “Eternity laughs at the futility of life.”

If I kick it there, well, haul me off the mountain on a donkey and please write one good obituary.

I don’t have a death wish, and I don’t have a bucket list, I just don’t want to live long enough to where my most exciting moment is making things out of raisins living in a coffin before the coffin otherwise known as an old folks home.

Nope, I don’t have a buck list. My life is the list.
