I hobbled over to the finish line near Lima’s Kennedy Parque on Sunday morning, where only one feline dared to be out. It was the Lima 2026 Marathon.

This annual event brings throngs of people to the city. Some are serious athletes (like the winner below), but others go for the fun.

The runners represented several countries as well as several personality types: GenXers, Baby Boomers, Techies and Tinder Swipers. Dog Lovers, Shoe Haters, Steroid Poppers and Selfie Takers.

The finish line smelled like a middle school locker room, a cloud of international sweat mingling with Dunkin Donuts and energy drinks.

Accomplishing any type of goal feels good, from cleaning out the refrigerator to writing a blog post. But the marathon will forever remind me of moving from Asia to replant myself in the land of 4000 potatoes, still wondering if I did the right thing.

Maybe there isn’t a right thing, but maybe just a right attitude to keep chugging along.

Life is a marathon, we just have different finish lines. Only a few will end up on a Wheaties box.

You have wonderful adventures….so thankful you share with us.
This is the best way to be a part of chapter of life. Blessings…
