Summer 2008
Dear Urban Youthworker,
Silence the Violence! This summer in Chicago there are 27 fewer kids bugging youth leaders for rides home or snickering during prayer. 27 kids were killed already due to shootings. One killed for a bike, one shot over a coat. As if shot over a gang squabble is any less painful. And this is just one city in one summer.
TastyFaith is sick of it, knowing that these 27 statistics have names, moms, and their deaths leave holes in many lives. Maybe even yours.
If you're working in a neighborhood that lost a teen to the streets, TastyFaith has some hot Bible studies that'll cool off the violence. Another Boy from the Hood is a great tool to get teens talking about death - the meaning of Christ's and the meaningless of others. It's full of questions that'll ignite life changing questions with tuff teens today.
Next summer may be too late.
