Spring 2009

Sick of Winter?

Will spring please arrive already? Snow, floods & fires coupled with foreclosures and food lines has made the winter of 2009 the pits. But Nicole King, a TastyFaith fan was quick to remind us, “God’s blessings aren’t affected by the recession.” His blessings aren’t affected by wind chills, either.

Times like these are tuff even if you have the faith of all the old time timers in Hebrews 11. That’s why TastyFaith is calling customers and taking prayer requests. If we haven’t got a hold of you and you want a prayer partner, shoot us an email. We’d love to pray with you.

Three Thousand Years New!

New Edition! Shortie Pages, Volume 3- Inner-City Israelites deals with timeless issues in the Bible that urban kids can relate to today, from being a minority to turf wars. These popular lessons now feature the artwork of Juan Baez.

Stretch Your Dollar, Stretch Your Mind

While funding might be down, needs are sky high. So how do you get one lesson to feed five thousand? Here are a few ideas:

Get one Bible Study to work for an entire group. Purchase one SheWise Another Boy from the Hood Study for the leader (available together at a value price). Get each student an inexpensive spiral notebook at Office Depot. Teens can decorate their notebooks with personal artwork, collages, pictures, etc. Have students write down lesson questions and their answers in their personal books. Challenge them to journal throughout the week. This exercises help with literacy skills as well as your lesson objectives.

Verse Cards - the inexpensive way to get the scripture into the hands and hearts of youth.

Slam! Lesson Series - offer verse cards at a great value. Each set offers 100 verse cards (ten each of ten verses). Cut them out each week and challenge the teens to keep them with pocket, cell phone case, etc.

Shortie Pages - These popular lesson pages for younger audiences are reproducible. Now Shortie Pages are available in a CD form with Bonus coloring pages. These extra pages are a great outreach tool to reach the shortest of shorties who have little or no reading skills.

Why doesn’t TastyFaith allow copying of teen materials? Because teens don’t appreciate them. You’ll find the copied materials on the floor or left in your church van. Personal handbooks, spiral notebooks or verse cards are a better choice for teens. They will hang onto them.
